Mentorship

The mentorship and guidance I provide focuses on the fundamentals of working with the body's connective tissues — fascia specifically. While my approach is rooted in structural integration, it differs from that of a Rolfer or Anatomy Trains practitioner.

We will meet once a month for an intensive 7-hour day over the course of 5–8 months, depending on your prior connective tissue education. Continuing education hours will be provided for mentorship.

mentorship syllabus

Month 1 - Fascia Fundamentals

Offers an in-depth beginners guide to working with fascia and other connective tissues of the body. This course invites students to become more confident in weaving connective tissue techniques when working with clients.

Month 2 - Fascial Manipulation and Advanced Connective Tissue Techniques

Gain the most up-to-date understanding of fascia and its relationship to both the muscular and nervous systems. Through observation of a client’s structure and movement patterns, students will learn to develop effective treatment strategies to address postural imbalances. Additionally, they will build proficiency in safely accessing and treating areas of the body that are often overlooked, including tight compartments and joint capsules.

Month 3 - Establishing the Foundation 1 - Feet, ankles, and lower leg

Provides insight into the functional roles the feet and ankles play in relationship to the rest of the body. Our connection to the ground is fundamental to how we move and interact with gravity. Gain knowledge in understanding and treating common foot and ankle conditions such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, and injuries.

Month 4 - Establishing the Foundation 2 - Thigh and pelvis

Learn how dysfunction in one area creates compensatory patterns throughout the kinetic chain from feet to pelvis and vice-versa.

The pelvis is the center of gravity and connects the spine to the lower body. Discover how working with the pelvis and upper leg can relieve low back and knee pain.

Month 5 - Balancing the Life Force 1 - Torso, spine, and skull

Discover how the soft tissues of the torso facilitate movement of the rib cage and spine, and how creating space in the rib cage encourages breath — supporting both heart and lung function, the two essentials for life. We will also explore the role of the central nervous system and how it influences movement, tension patterns, and the body's overall capacity to heal and adapt.

Month 6 - Balancing the Life Force 2 - Rib cage and shoulders

Just as the legs are an extension of the pelvis, the shoulders and arms are an extension of the rib cage. We will address and treat common shoulder pathologies including rotator cuff injuries, frozen shoulder, thoracic outlet syndrome, and tendinopathies of the arm joints.

Month 7 - Maintaining Structural Balance - Client aftercare

Offers movement-based aftercare recommendations that help clients maintain postural balance outside the treatment room. Grounded in the principles of fascial integrity and muscular support, this section equips you to empower clients with practical tools for effective self-care at home.

Month 8 - Starting a Therapeutic Practice

If you are ready to take the leap and branch out on your own, I provide an outline of the strategies that have helped me build and maintain a successful private practice in therapeutic bodywork for nearly 20 years.
